SUMA marks 30 years of activity in waste management
20.03.2024
SUMA, the leading private sector waste management and collection company in Portugal, marks its 30th anniversary on 21 March with a new cycle of activity and growth, focusing on innovation and internationalisation.
Following the conclusion of the transaction between the Mota-Engil Group and Urbaser at the beginning of the year, SUMA is now 100% owned by Mota-Engil and is one of the strategic vehicles for action in the environmental area, namely in the internationalisation of this activity, supported by its vast know-how and presence in strategic markets such as Angola, Brazil, Mozambique and Oman.
It is worth noting that in Portugal SUMA is experiencing sustained growth and remarkable preparation in anticipation of the challenges the country will have to face, particularly in terms of meeting recycling targets, collecting bio-waste and not disposing of waste in landfill. In this regard, the offer and response capacity will be a key factor in supporting national clients and partners in meeting their objectives.
The internal synergies with the Mota-Engil Group will be crucial to guarantee integrated and consolidated responses, innovative solutions to highly complex problems and technical robustness in the execution of the sector’s national policies.
According to Manuel Costa, Chairman of SUMA’s Board of Directors, “we anticipate a new cycle of growth and innovation, which will allow SUMA to offer its clients more comprehensive and competitive proposals, making SUMA a partner with unique competences that make a difference in the implementation of their projects.”
In SUMA: 30 years of experience, a new cycle of evolution.
